A 40 YEAR LONG STORY
Luciano Consonni founded the company in 1984 and called it LAUMAS, combining the names of his children, Laura and Massimo, who currently lead the company together with their father.
With experience as a design engineer in plant automation at the Montedison group, Luciano later worked as an agent in the industrial weighing sector, starting to market the first load cells. He subsequently moved from Milan to Parma and chose to start his business in Emilia Romagna, a strongly industrialized area committed to technological innovation.
In years in which the weighing market is mainly dominated by mechanical scales, the first challenges of the newly formed LAUMAS are to spread electronic weighing systems in the industry and compete with the brands already established in the sector by leveraging their particular strengths: fast delivery and great value for money.

1984

Luciano Consonni launched his business in a small factory on Via Navile in the city of Parma, hiring his initial workforce and establishing a sales office in Monza, in the Lombardy region. Over the following years, to meet growing space requirements, the company relocated several times, expanded its warehouse facilities, and steadily increased its headcount.
1992

Laura Consonni joined LAUMAS, where she initially oversaw electronic networks, documentation, and user manuals. She also spearheaded the publication of the company’s first sales catalog, which significantly boosted the marketing of industrial weighing systems comprising load cells, indicators, and weight transmitters. Today, Laura serves as a managing partner and HR director, while also overseeing the management of the company’s IT infrastructure.
1997

At the same time, Massimo Consonni joined the company and now serves as Managing Partner and Legal Representative of LAUMAS, overseeing business development and marketing. Following several relocations, the company ultimately returned to Strada Naviglia in Parma, establishing its headquarters in a much larger, more purposefully designed building than the original small factory.
2002

The company relocated to its current address at Via V, in the town of Montechiarugolo, Province of Parma, initially occupying approximately 2,000 square meters of indoor space, along with a 1,000-square-meter outdoor storage area.
2007

LAUMAS has established a new R&D department, which designs and develops innovative new products with a focus on continuous technological advancement and is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and equipment to conduct a wide range of tests on the electronic and mechanical components of these new products.
2012

Years of investment in research and development have finally paid off this year: LAUMAS has undertaken a comprehensive product refresh, launching a brand-new series of weight indicators and weight transmitters—innovative, cutting-edge solutions that are entirely “Made in Italy.”
2018

LAUMAS has established a strategic partnership with MICRO ASSEMBLAGGI, a leading manufacturer of printed circuit boards using both SMT and THT technologies. This collaboration enables LAUMAS to maintain full control over the entire production chain for transmitters and weight indicators, thereby consistently ensuring that the company’s electronic weighing instruments are 100% Made in Italy.
2018

LAUMAS has completed several major expansion projects, doubling the footprint of its headquarters to a total of 4,000 square meters. The new facilities include a 1,000-square-meter warehouse, a conference hall, a webinar room, a metrology laboratory, and a newly developed leisure area. Upon completion of the project, the company hosted a two-day grand celebration, inviting partners, customers, suppliers, sports industry collaborators, and numerous friends who have witnessed the company’s growth from various perspectives to join the festivities.
2019

Thirty distributors from Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Japan, Greece, India, Israel, Malaysia, Norway, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, and Zambia participated in the first international technical training session held at LAUMAS’s new headquarters. Ongoing training and a strong emphasis on building and nurturing relationships are top priorities for LAUMAS in the conception, planning, and execution of its business initiatives.

LAUMAS’s network of authorized distributors and service centers continues to grow worldwide. In recent years, the company has also strengthened its presence in the United States, China, Germany, and Brazil through timely product delivery and on-site pre-sales and after-sales technical services. 2024
Innovation in the Weighing Field: Evolution
LAUMAS has inaugurated Calibration Laboratory LAT No. 02141, which is accredited by Accredia and provides calibration services for load cells—devices that can be connected to weight indicators or transmitters—in accordance with ISO 376 and ASTM E74 standards, issuing corresponding calibration certificates valid worldwide.
